Nepalgunj: Chief Minister of State 5 Shankar Pokharel, who was returning to Rupandehi from Kathmandu, was pelted with stones targeting his vehicle.
The Chief Minister, who was coming to Butwal from Bhairahawa, displayed black flags in Manigram, Kotihawa and Shankarnagar areas. The vehicle carrying the Chief Minister from Bhairahawa to Butwal was pelted with stones near the Butwal Highway intersection amid tight security.
According to a police source, the vehicle carrying the Chief Minister and two vehicles skirting the Chief Minister were damaged. Not sure how much damage was done. Police have arrested some people from the same place.
It is not clear who threw stones at the Chief Minister’s vehicle. Chief Minister Pokharel had gone to Kathmandu on Saturday after the party meeting after the government registered a proposal to move the permanent capital of five states in the state assembly.
Dissatisfied with the proposal tabled in the House, the protest continued with a program of Rupendehi Bandh.
