Nepalganj: Banke Traffic is going to check the driver who is driving under the influence of alcohol from a record keeping machine. A record with pictures of the drivers will be kept through a breathalyzer.
The District Disaster Management Committee, Banke, on Tuesday handed over three state-of-the-art breathalyzer machines to the traffic police through the district police office.
Chief District Officer of Banke Ram Bahadur Kurumbang has handed over three state-of-the-art breathalyzer machines to District Superintendent of Police Om Bahadur Rana on behalf of the District Disaster Management Committee.
Chief District Officer Kurumbang informed that the state-of-the-art measuring machine has been provided in the district to facilitate the traffic police to check alcohol consumption.
Banke Police Chief Superintendent of Police Om Bahadur Rana said that all the details including the picture of the driver who had consumed alcohol with a state-of-the-art breathalyzer machine would be recorded. He told the driver to blow into the machine through a plastic pipe and record the amount of alcohol consumed, the picture, name, license number and all the details will be recorded in the machine.
Chief Inspector of the District Traffic Police, Pabindra Bam, said that in the absence of such a state-of-the-art machine in the district, the traffic police have been finding out that the driver has not sniffed alcohol. He informed that the check will be done in a simple and easy scientific way through this machine.
There will also be a record of how many times a driver has been prosecuted for alcohol abuse in the past. Banke Traffic has said that this machine will be used immediately.
